Renault Captur to Sport a Striking New Appearance in 202

Renault is gearing up to launch a refreshed version of its popular small crossover, the Renault Captur, in the first half of this year. Following in the footsteps of the Clio’s revamp in the latter part of 2023, the Captur is in line for a significant makeover.

Leaked European patent applications have offered a sneak peek into the updated design of the Renault Captur, showcasing a more striking and angular front end reminiscent of Renault’s flagship Austral. This aesthetic shift brings the Captur a step further from its closely associated counterpart, the Clio. The revamped look introduces an aggressive front bumper and incorporates Renault’s latest corporate grille design.

The upcoming changes aren’t as dramatic at the rear, with the continuation of the current model’s signature C-shaped tail-lights. Minor tweaks are expected in the rear plastic components like the bumper, while significant metal panels like the doors are likely to remain unchanged.

Inside the cabin, substantial upgrades are anticipated, focusing on enhancing material quality—an area where the current Captur already excels. The inclusion of the larger 9.3-inch portrait-layout infotainment system and the 10-inch instrument panel across more trim levels is on the cards, promising a modernized interior experience.

In terms of powertrain, the revised Captur, sharing the same CMF-B underpinnings as the Clio, will solely offer electrified options in the UK. The current 1.6-litre E-Tech full-hybrid setup is set to continue, showcasing Renault’s commitment to environmentally friendly solutions.

While details about the potential return of the previous plug-in hybrid model remain undisclosed, Renault might opt to emphasize full-hybrid technology for this iteration of the Captur. Future iterations, slated for a complete overhaul in 2026, could explore more efficient petrol-based hybrid powertrains, a collaborative effort with Chinese giant Geely.
