Grapefruit, also known as pomelo, is a sweet citrus fruit native to the Caribbean. Nutritionists widely use it to improve insulin resistance and reduce the risk of metabolic syndrome.
Grapefruit is very beneficial for combating respiratory diseases and getting various nutrients like vitamins and minerals.
It has been found that consuming grapefruit frequently helps reduce fatigue, thanks to a compound called “nootkatone” that improves energy levels in the body.
Other benefits it provides to the human body include improved circulation, stronger hair and nails, prevention of colds and flu, elimination of intestinal parasites, regulation of blood pressure, and reduction of constipation. It also helps prevent premature aging.
How to consume grapefruit?
You can find grapefruit in many forms, including jams, juices, and ice cream. However, it’s best to eat it raw to absorb all its benefits.

Spinach and grapefruit salad recipe
Ingredients
2 pieces of grapefruit
4 Cups of washed and disinfected baby spinach
1 Piece of a half-moon apple
1/2 Cup of toasted pistachios
1/2 Cup crumbled goat cheese
1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons of honey
1 Pinch of salt
1 pinch of ground black pepper
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1/4 tablespoon of dried oregano
Preparation
For the salad:
Using a paring knife, remove the peel from the grapefruit and cut between the skin of each segment to remove the cores.
Mix spinach, apple, pistachios, goat cheese, and grapefruit supremes. Set aside.
For the vinaigrette:
Combine vinegar, honey, salt, pepper, and oregano in a bowl.
Add the olive oil in a thin stream while whisking until an emulsion forms.
Serve the salad with the honey vinaigrette and enjoy.
