Engineered to meet the rigorous qualifications and demands of the automotive semiconductor market, Broadcom’s BroadR-Reach is the world’s broadest automotive ethernet portfolio, claims the company.
BroadR-Reach devices allow multiple in-vehicle systems, such as infotainment, onboard diagnostics, and automated driver assistance, to simultaneously access information over unshielded single twisted-pair cable. According to the company, BroadR-Reach delivers high-performance bandwidth of 100 Mbps and beyond while reducing connectivity costs up to 80% and cabling weight as much as 30%. The product portfolio consists of five devices (BCM89500, BCM89501, BCM89200, BCM89610, and BCM89810), including three highly integrated switches with embedded PHYs (physical layers) and two stand-alone PHY solutions. Each device is designed to meet in-car electromagnetic compatibility requirements and extreme automotive temperature grades.
