OptiRough toolpath

October 2011 Email to a friend   Comment on this article
CNC Software’s 3-D surface high-speed Mastercam OptiRough toolpath supports cutters capable of machining very large depths of cut.

OptiRough toolpath The technique is designed to remove large amounts of material quickly using its dynamic milling motion. Large, aggressive cuts are followed by fast, smaller cuts, safely delivering a fully roughed part faster than ever, the company says. A single OptiRough toolpath can cut material in two directions: on step downs (-z) and step ups (+z). This efficient bidirectional cutting strategy removes the maximum amount of material with the minimum of step downs, reducing cycle times. Users do not need any special tooling to employ OptiRough; it uses existing tools in a more efficient manner.
