HJS Emission Technology’s two-stage emissions control technology features hydrocarbon dosing for higher temperatures to ensure catalytic light-off.
HJS Emission Technology uses hydrocarbon dosing to achieve the high exhaust gas temperatures necessary for proper catalytic converter function in diesel engines rated up to 130 kW (174 hp). Exhaust flow is divided into two separate routes. Hotter exhaust gas temperatures are achieved in one route via electrical heating (variable), hydrocarbon dosing, and catalysis. This hydrocarbon-enriched gas flow of more than 600°C (1112°F) then rejoins with untreated, lower temperature flow from the other route. The combined flow then enters the system's main catalytic converter and then a diesel particulate filter. The technology ensures sufficient heat levels so the particulate filter can be regenerated under all engine operating conditions. Electrical heating is required only in the start phase; afterward, heat is developed purely through catalytic effect.
