International Automotive Components (IAC) offers a new blow foaming process for HVAC duct components.
Set to be featured on a 2014 model year vehicle, the proprietary blow foaming process for HVAC duct components is patented and licensed from JSP by IAC for a customer program in North America. The new process and proprietary material uses existing blow molding equipment and requires minimal modifications. Reducing part mass approximately 50%, the process eliminates the need for secondary foaming pieces and reduces part count required in typical blow molding processes, thereby decreasing manufacturing costs. It reduces buzz, squeak, and rattle and provides improved NVH characteristics due to its improved sound absorption properties, decreasing airflow noise by an estimated 30% when traveling through the duct.
