TRW Automotive Holdings has developed a vacuum sensor that measures and reports the level of vacuum available in the brake booster.

Vacuum sensorTRW Automotive Holdings has developed a vacuum sensor that measures and reports the level of vacuum available in the brake booster. It is critical that the amount of engine vacuum available is known and that this data is transferred to the brake controller for sufficient amounts of brake boost to be delivered. According to TRW, it has constructed a highly reliable and flexible configuration with solid performance, packaging, and price competitiveness that allows the company to provide customers a combined actuation and sensor offering. Developed using knowledge the company gained in creating satellite pressure sensors for crash-sensing applications, the TRW vacuum sensor is slated to launch in 2013.
