Modular electric drives that are 20% lighter and smaller than previous models are just going into production at Bosch. They are also much quieter.
Known as the NSA (New Seat Actuator) series, they are suited to applications beyond seat adjustment.
In vehicles in which the two front seats are each equipped with four adjustment options, the new drives reduce vehicle weight by up to 2kg.
Bosch says their compact design is due to the higher power density of the advanced magnetic technology used. Modular design that includes sensors and electronic components allows developers to quickly meet new vehicle model specifications.
Typical applications are longitudinal, height, inclination, and backrest adjustment for seats, steering column and belt height adjustment, reversible belt tensioners, cargo covers and locking and unlocking of convertible tops or tailgates.
