Two-way signal reassures drivers
01/09/2007 Email to a friend   Comment on this article
Siemens VDO has developed an innovative locking system that leaves drivers in no doubt about whether a car is secure.

The Personal Car Communicator (PCC) fob, in series production for Volvo cars (S80, V70 and XC70) incorporates a button which, when pressed, illuminates either a green or red light indicating whether or not the car is locked.

In contrast to traditional radio frequency-operated central locking systems, the PCC’s intelligent chip not only sends commands to the locking system but also receives vehicle access status data that can be displayed to the user.
