Dura has developed the second generation of its innovative power sliding front and rear doors and has shown the technology on a new small four-door car at IAA, Frankfurt.
Capable of electronic and manual operation, the doors are suited to all classes of vehicle mainly due to the absence of unsightly lateral external guide tracks that spoil a vehicle’s external design. Instead the mechanism is contained within the inner section of the door structure using the company’s patented InvisiTrak system.
The doors can be applied to one side of the car only if required, without any noticeable external differences between either side. No modifications are need to made to the exterior of the car although some stiffening of the pillars may be advised.
“Our solution can be adopted for all automotive concepts without any limitations or concessions in terms of construction and visual design”, says Burkhard Vogt, head of sales and innovation at Dura Automotive Europe.
