Seoul Semiconductor says its new P4 LED emits 240 lm at 1A and features the industry’s highest luminous efficacy (100 lm/W @ 350mA maximum) with only a single die.

SSC chief executive Jung Hoon Lee said: “Conventional LEDs have been known to emit more than 100 lumens with several dies. Our P4 is the only LED product in the world with 240 lm via a single die.”

The company says its patented phosphor and packaging technologies are key to P4’s performance and claims that it will have improved its luminous efficacy up to and 145lm/W by the first quarter of2008.

The devices are designed for operation in a wide variety of lighting applications and industries including automotive.
